» PandoraB - What would you like to see? Welcome to the new Pagan Parenting at Suite101.com.We're just getting started and there's lots to come, but I've started to this thread for you to post your ideas and suggestions about what you would like to see on Pagan Parenting. This corner of Suite101.com is for you and I want to be sure that I'm covering the topics you want to know about. So don't be shy. -- posted by PandoraB » CulinaryJen - Re: What would you like to see? In response to What would you like to see? posted by PandoraB:Welcome! I look forward to your articles! -- posted by CulinaryJen » ierne - Re: What would you like to see? In response to What would you like to see? posted by PandoraB:Merry Met and welcome to Suite101 - it's wonderful to have Pagan Parenting back..I'm so glad to see you here! I'd definitely love to see the Sabbats covered, with little projects for the kids to do, perhaps kid-centered rituals? Pagan kids' books..yes, I know, there's a lack of specifically pagan books for kids *sigh*. PS - I have got an email from you, I think, to add a link to Sprites Pagan Kids Pages to your website? I've been so behind on the site, with the changes at Suite, and Pagan Pride, that I haven't been keeping up - sorry about that. Hopefully soon I'll have more time to work on the site! I'll double check the listing for Pagan Parenting too, to make sure I haven't removed it.. *makes note* Anyway - welcome to Suite, and you'll be hearing from me soon (I'm Suite's Chief Copy Editor, so I'll be setting you up shortly...).. -- posted by ierne » PandoraB - Re: Re: What would you like to see? In response to ierne:Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm very excited about being here. Funny you mention Pagan kids books. I'm working on that. As you know, there aren't many, but I am at least looking for Pagan-friendly books. If you have any suggestions, do share (when you have some time to breath, lol). -- posted by PandoraB » ierne - Re: Re: Re: What would you like to see? In response to Re: Re: What would you like to see? posted by PandoraB:Hi there! When you say you're working on that, do you mean as an article, or are you working on a book? ;) As for books in particular - I have two here that are excellent for kids (one is upstairs buried in my girls' room somewhere, and I can't recall the title off-hand, but I'll look for it this weekend). The other is titled Pentalia, written by Amanda Evans. Apparently - it's gone out of print though *sigh*, or so I've been told. I'm hoping to get in touch with the author again and find out for sure. It's ficton, btw, aimed at 9-12 year olds. I'm reading another book, aimed at 14-early 20s, also fiction, called Faith & Fairies and so far it's amazing. The author is C.S. Haviland, and it's a small press publication. I cringe to say it, but the Witches Night Out series by Silver RavenWolf is actually quite well done. Outside of fiction, there are few - Ellen (Evert Hopman) has released a children's herbal - Walking The World in Wonder. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it. My girls love it! Another good one for kids is The Ancient Celtic Festivals by Clare Walker Leslie and Frank E. Gerace. And of course, the old stand-by (if one can get their hands on it) The Pagan Kids Activity Book (Amber K I believe). I have a list at Sprites, but it's a lot of fiction, and mostly..well, not very pagan, but at least, pagan friendly. I'm taking the weekend off, to work on the site..LOL well, that and breathing. Breathing is a good thing ;) Take care! -- posted by ierne » terpette - Re: What would you like to see? In response to What would you like to see? posted by PandoraB:Not a parent yet, but I plan to be one someday, and I plan to raise my kid(s) pagan. (My boyfriend and potential husband-to-be is Wiccan, like me.) One of the big issues I've wondered about is how pagan parents deal with the inevitable teasing that the kids will get in school if/when their religion comes out. How do you help your kids deal? How do you deal with the school if they freak out about it? That sort of thing. Oh, and welcome to Suite. Be sure to stop by Wicca and Witchcraft over in the Religion and Spirituality section. I could use more folks in my discussions section that are actually there to discuss and not drive-by preach. Karen -- posted by terpette
