» hilie_e - Their email is "under construction"...

Sooo, I plan on writing them a letter. This is the address for anyone else who is interested

Somerset Education Department County Hall TAUNTON Somerset England TA1 4DY

Please keep us updated on this horrible situation. I don't know many kids who skip school to spend the day with their parents. I'm completely disgusted.

By the way, great topic! I just found it, and I'm very happy I did.

In response to message posted by hilie_e:

Thanks to all who bombarded them with email. According to my homeschooling sources there, several things have happened. !. They let the education officer who let the info slip know that they are VERY displeased. 2. The Councilman who is listed officially as in charge of education denies all knowledge and points his finger at a woman at the educational authority. 3. I have receved copies of emails from the educational authority who protest that it is merely under consideration, or perhaps they would prefer an id card. Interestingly enough, all copies of the emails are identical with just the recipients being different. 4. I am told homeschoolers in Penssylavania are being required to carry homeschool identification cards. Big Brother is not dead, it seems.

» hilie_e - Penn IDs : Depends on what they are for...

Most of the kids in this area have ID cards if they go to public schools, I believe the same goes for homeschoolers. They're used to get into certain events, use the community college library, etc. If the police are harassing homeschoolers that a whole different topic, but having an ID from the school district can be a benefit.
