» jerrib - Maria - glad you're back I really enjoyed your history of the novel. This woman is model for us all. We do not know what oppression is, do we?You are so talented and bring all your characters to life. As usual, this is a shining story that came to life at your keyboard. Thanks, Jerri -- posted by jerrib » mariaandrea - Gosh Jerri I can't think of anyone who can bring a tear to my eye quicker than you can!Wasn't she something? And to think that Lady Murasaki actually lived in a time period considered to be relatively free for women, or at least those in the upper class. Women could own property and receive a basic education, but of course there were always barriers. I think that's why she and countless others like her the world round are so fascinating and inspirational. They rose above their circumstances to create something truly lasting. Makes me ashamed if I catch myself saying I can't do something! Thanks for dropping by and your continuing support and encouragement. It means a lot! -- posted by mariaandrea » pamela_saint - Lady Murasaki Maria,I simply can't imagine a world wherein learning and reading and writing are denied me. I'm adding Lady Murasaki to the list of those people I would love to be able to travel through time and meet. I enjoyed your article and learning about this inspiring and admirable woman. Pamela -- posted by pamela_saint » mariaandrea - Re: Lady Murasaki In response to message posted by pamela_saint:Thank you Pamela! I also couldn't imagine, or want to live in, such a world. I'm really glad you dropped by as it allowed me to (finally) discover your topic. I really love British Literature and admit to being an Austen fanatic, though the woman I'd like to meet is Mary Ann Evans (George Eliot). Hmmm, that could make an interesting poll or article... "What woman would you most like to go back in time to meet?" Thanks again! -- posted by mariaandrea
