look at Bend, Sue. No way would I have known it flooded under the overpasses! We love that city.What fun for you. Moms are great. You ought to get this into the 2nd Annual Childhood Memories event.
By the way, we crossed your state from Hermiston to Portland yesterday. I can't think of a place in Oregon I don't like. We were coming from Idaho Falls. Great drive. Didn't go south to Bend, though.

In response to message posted by jerrib:It was really an interesting event. Usually, most places in Bend drain quickly because the soil is so porous with lava/cinderss, but when it deluges like that, it only takes an afternoon for flooding.

I've lived half my life on the East Coast and half in the Great Lakes area, and the worst weather I'd ever seen was a powerful thunderstorm that rolled across Michigan. The sky turned the color of a 7-Up bottle; trees three feet in diameter were uprooted, billboards were blown down, and families were without power for a week.The storm you described sounded even worse!
