» strether290 - Le Lac des fées by Auber and Scribe

{Anyone wanting accurate information about this Auber-Scribe collaboration of 1839 -- Le Lac des fées -- would be well advised to forget this wildly inaccurate and slangily written "plot summary". The writer can't even spell the heroine's name -- Zéila -- consistently or correctly. Go to a printed source of the libretto -- in Oeuvres complètes de Eugène Scribe, IIIme série, 3me volume, pp. 283-370 [Paris, Dentu, 1875]. This is pretentious and pathetic work. }
