» Skoken - A computer game fried my computer as well

I used to play video games from time to time as a hobby. Recently I got back into it with the purchase of a new "inexpensive" PC. The PC had an Intel Pentium III processor and 256 meg. of RAM ... which was good for two years ago, but it was being sold at approx. $700.00.

I eventually got into playing a game called "Halflife" which is currently one of the most popular internet multiplayer games. What they do not tell you, however, is that your computer works non-stop while you are playing one of these games (especially if you have broadband).

Unfortunately, my "great deal" computer had a cheap cooling system (yes those are fans you hear in your computer) and a weak power supply system. The end result was that my computer operated non-stop, a fan broke, and my system board fried almost immediately.

A word of advice: If you go into compusa or any other computer store, look at the computer models they promote as "the ultimate gaming PC" These models will have two things in common: They will have the current amount of speed (RAM & Processor Chip) that you would expect, and they will have high performance power supply and cooling systems.
If someone in your house is using broadband internet access or online gaming, I would highly recommend that you check out the quality of the system.
