» feistyfemale56 - Go Red for Women

In my mail today, I received an envelope from the American Heart Association about their "Go Red for Women" campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to educate women that heart disease is the Number 1 killer of American women.

There's a small folded brochure that has information on it with warning signs of stroke and heart attack (stroke is the Number 3 killer of American women), as well as reminders of things to do to maintain heart health. The brochure is small enough to fit in your wallet.

And, as a sign to others that you are concerned with women's heart health, there is a little red dress pin, much like the pink ribbon pins for breast cancer.

For any of the males reading this, you may want to make sure the women in your lives take heart health seriously.

My cardiologist in Denver took good care of my heart. However, many of the pills had side effects. C'est la vie.

Now, I try to exercise at least five times per week -- and it seems to help. They say that pumping the rocking chair just doesn't do the job of keep the heart in tune. It's much better to ride an exercise bike 4 miles per day.

Hank,

Good health naturally wins out over chemical solutions every time, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to cleaning out my medicine cabinet as I increase my fitness.

Ah yes. May we drink from the Holy Grail before we run out of Doctor Quack's options.
