» K_J_L - Robert Stuart

Hello,
I thought I would reply to the discussion begun under the Jim Bridger article here, as it seemed appropriate.I was glad to see the "Astor" article and enjoyed it very much. I look forward to the 2nd part. David Stuart was Robert's uncle, and I believe was the one that got him involved in the fur trade in the 1st place. After the Astoria adventure, David, described in the journal as Robert's "beloved uncle", resided with Robert and his wife on Mackinac Island. I believe that the spelling I used for their name is the correct one, as that is how I've always seen it. But, of course, having not known him personally, that is based on my sources, just like yours. (grin)

I believe I have also seen David referenced as Robert's uncle. Still haven't gotten around to reading "Astoria" yet by Washington Irving. It's kind of intimidating, it's a thiiiiick book. But its one in very nice condition, so I will carefully lay the book jacket aside while I read it. Thanks for your interest in my web site. Hope you like Part 2.
