» Karen_Largent - I want to work

Hi Pat, I am the Alzheimer's editor here at Suite101.com. I am an LPN and due to disability cannot work at the nursing home any longer. I want to be productive and use my skills. Do you know of any resources for nurses to telecommute? Any help would be appreciated as my son will be entering college in another year. I have worked in medical offices, hospitals, nursing homes, as a secretary, a telemarketer and cannot resign myself to giving up nursing. Geriatrics and Alzheimer's are my specialties. Perhaps other disabled nurses can join in this discussion. Thanks!

In response to I want to work posted by Karen_Largent:

Hi Karen,
Please visit the nonprofit resource www.ExceptionalNurse.com. There are many employment opportunities as well as information about telecommuting.

Also, consider reading the new book I wrote..
Leave No Nurse Behind: Nurses Working with disAbilities.

Eleven nurses with disabilities (d/Deaf, spina bifida, vision loss, limb loss, dystonia, back injury, mental illness, HIV, arthritis, MS, tremors) share their inspirational stories. Here is a link to the publisher and description of the book.

It is also available at

Good Luck!
