As of today, 94% of you said that staffing at your center is unsafe. I'd like to hear just how bad you think it is. Please post your comments here. I'll be using this data for future articles. Here's your chance, SPEAK UP!

» PattyM99 - Staff shortage

I am an LPN presently working in a Nursing Home. I am responsible for 40 residents. My responsibilities are to pass out all medications for all 40 residents. I am also responsible for making sure the residents are safe and free of injuries. I am responsible for charting on all of the residents. I am responsible for the nurse's aides. I have to make sure they do their work. This is alot of responsibility for one nurse. I do have help from the Nursing Supervisor, but she has her responsibilities, too. I think we are putting these people at risk with nurse shortage.

» gramma11 - saffing shortages

i work on a nursing home care unit of 48 patients as an RN.we on a daily basis work with approx 6-8 staff to do the total care for very dependent patients. most days i am the only RN to supervise and provide hands on are too.. my complaint is the risk of injury to my patinets with the shortage and to the staff. also there is a big problew with no moral support from upper management and big funding cuts... well that is my dilemma but i will continue to do my job due to the need for me to work and the seniority that i have.. i wish that the familys of thepatienets could be more activily ivovedby main calls and visits o management about the cooditions thepatiets areputunder. due to shortages. management is now recruiting new med aides to pick up the slack in that area, ut stll does not give the RN any relief do to needing to supervise them to for any medication errors..it is a no win situation....with out more licensed staff and nurses aides i see big problems ahead .
