The whole tsunami thing took everyone by surprise. A lot of the areas hit were areas that I spent a fair amount of time in when I was traveling through S.E. Asia. It's such an eery, depressing feeling to know that many of those with whom I interacted, ate with, lived with, made friends with, etc., are dead or otherwise tragically touched by the experience. It is nice to see the international community helping out.
