Hello Diana

Happy Year Nought!

Your onion article is so good I added a link to it to my onion article... Growing Onions Beginner Style.

So many people put off growing simple crops like onions and potatoes because they are so cheap and plentiful in the stores. One thing must be said though -- the quality of onions and potatoes grown at home is premium. The flavour and freshness is excellent, and you can grow varieties that you can't find in stores. Your cheapness reason is also extremely valid, although it's hard to sell someone on that if they aren't already into gardening in some way. Now this may seem insane reason, but it is becoming more relevant for those of us who choose to live without cars, and is my main reason. You see, when you live without a vehicle to truck your potatoes and onions home from the store in, it becomes much easier to grow your own. Every tried cycling with a 20 pound sack of potatoes in your paniers? Don't go there! Then again, with my soil, I am putting lime in my paniers instead. ALAS.

The sun will go down soon here, and there's liming to be done. TAKE CARE Diana!
