» CarolWallace - Minor bulbs

You are so right about the stunning effects that these so-called minor bulbs can give. The Dutch Gardens catalog has a photos of the Kukenhof Gardens in Holland that is a river of blue Muscari with the "banks" on each side made of masses of red tulips. It must have taken tens of thousands to achieve this! But luckily most of these bulbs are relatively inexpensive and our gardens smaller than Kukenhof - we could do small lakes of them, or waves of crocuses - so much effect from something so small.

I have the same problem as Jerri though. My tulips may survive the burrowing critters - it's the ones who wander around on the surface thinking of tulip buds as wonderful delicacies that do me in.
