» Carol Wallace - We do think alike sometimes! I did an article a while back called "Random Acts of Beautification" suggesting something along the same lines - carry those seed packets with me and sow them in areas that need a little face lift. But in reading your article I realized that I have an area of our own property that could use the same kind of help - and I don't know why Inever thought of it. We have about 1/4 acre of wooded area that I've been slowly (interminably slowly!) been thinning out. Before I started it was so dark down there that nothing much was growing at all. Now it's overrun with garlic mustard and greater celandine (and some jewel weed but I don' mind that.) All I need is a bunch of seeds for part shade plants and I can begin to fight back. I did sow some foxglove seeds there last fall and some already came up and bloomed - which was fast! I imagine there will be increasing numbers of those - but I'm going to start looking for other plants that would look great growing in the "wild." -- posted by Carol Wallace
