» CarolWallace - What a great rule!

I start out that way every day - coffee cup in hand I stroll along the garden closest to the house and slowly make a circuit that encompasses all of the different gardens. I mkae it past the first few with no problem - just excitement as I notice new things - we cleared a lot o overhead trees and I am constantly being surprised by new wildflowers that had lain dormant while the area was in darkness.

But I never seem to make it all the way through - and when I get to the walled garden with its convenient table I inevitably find myself setting down the coffee cup so that I can pull a weed or deadhead the daylilies - and before I know it the coffee is cold and I have started my working day without meaning to.

I'm going to adopt your rule now! It seems like a much better way to enjoy trhe garden.

And I am extremely jealous of your Bishop of Llandaff dahlias. They are my dream dahlias, too - but I only managed to find them once - last year with the dreadful drought - and they didn't survive.

» jerrib - Wonderful way to

reap the rewards of your hard work. I'll join you in my sparse garden, iced tea in hand (hot tea in the fall). Good reminder to folks to "smell the roses" and forget the thorns. Jerri

I find that my ritual is to sit in the evening after everything is done, and admire what I have accomplished thruought the day. In the evening it is usually a cold beer, lol and during the afternoon it's iced tea
.
I love getting out first thing in the morning and going all day @ my own pace.
I just can't wait for spring this year! I have so many ideas that I want to implement. All I need is the time, money, and someone to do the digging!

Hey Marian! You really are finding your way around the Suite, aren't you! And you'll find Mary's advice to be excellent - she's a very experienced gardener. A good discovery for you!

Carol, I just ended up back in here thru a page that I found thru one of your articles about Sanctuary Gardens, that I found thru Debs. garden chat followup discussion. rotfl. The suite really amazes me.....I bookmarked the 40+ page so I can surf around from there. I don't know how I didn't find it before. That's one of the things that I like so much about "suite" There is nothing that you can't find thru here, and a lot of articles that I happen upon thru other sites have a Suite 101 approval on them......lol

» Rocksy - Trying again

I am bringing this topic up as I am hoping it will get going. It should show up on the new gardening site, and maybe get some notice. I think "coffee in the garden" is just so relaxing, and would love to see how others enjoy their yards

Rocksy........well I read somewhere that slugs do NOT like coffee....so if it goes cold you could at least trickle it around your Hostas ?

Why stop at coffee, its not everybody`s cup of tea?..How good you feel when you are full, how satisfied with yourselve and with the world. Its possible that you feel more forgiving with a full stomach? more noble and kind hearted, and ready to take in the real beauty of your yard or garden.
