» Jojo - saving geraniums

I have 3 ways to pull this off...

1. Grow your Geranium as a Houseplant - This works best for me, especially with P. stellatas and the scented types. Many of the rarer types of geraniums seem to prefer this method.

2. Stem Cuttings - I haven't done this in years but invariable ended up with too many plants.

3. The paper-bag, hanging upside-down Method - This works really well for me, I think because I keep my house really cool. Additionally, my crawlspace under my house is completely unheated but I live in a mild climate (Georgia Straight, BC, Zone 9)

SO my conclusion with saving these things is that it varies by plant, by climate, and by your indoor growing environment! It's true that Northern Gardeners are going to have a rougher time of it. As you say Mary, people with 3-season porches are very lucky indeed!

I've explained each of the geranium saving techniques in an article about it I wrote 2 Octobers ago here.
