Thanks for coming by, Jerrib - well, I can't say I've mastered it. I've always found it difficult and if I do cross the country by train again I will either stop and stay in hotels or get a berth.

It was a good trip though - I had a good time socializing with others on the train both ways.

I know what you mean. We used to take the train to Whitefish, MT to ski and went coach the first year. It's a 14-hour ride that leaves in the afternoon. Neither of us got much sleep, and boy was it cold at 5:30 a.m. in the middle of the winter when we got off the train!
