» Lindyloo - Ballantynes fire

After reading this article it makes me think of the Grandfather I never knew. My Grandfather died in Ballantynes fire, my father was only 16. I understand that of all the employees that died my Grandfather was the only one that left any children. My father said that he thought another person who died had children, but that he was an auditor and not actually an employee of Ballantynes. My memories of this event and my Grandfather are my fathers memories and they make me sad at times. At least one good thing came of the fire and that was the changing of N.Z's fire regulation as I understand it.
