Hi Phillipa

It will be Anzac Day again the day after tomorrow. I am just putting the finishing touches to an article about Anzac Day which will be published on the 25th.

So many died so young, and for what? Gallipoli was such a waste of life. But it built a legend of heroism and courage.

Australia and New Zealand really gave more than their share to the Great War.

Hi Joanna
Yes it is certainly a day to remember. I had two great uncles killed in the Battle of the Somme, and my grandfather served in the Pacific during WWII- something that he hardly ever spoke of, but effected him very deeply. Still it is great to see so many young kiwis and aussies celebrating those who sacrificed their lives for us. It's not a day that glorifies war, just one that recognises our debt to them.
