Very good article and very good advice. I have read that some research has shown that prayer is at least as powerful as the placebo effect in illnesses. When combined with mainstream treatment, those who prayed regularly were more apt to heal.
This would be true also for non-Christians who pray in the ways traditional to their own cultures. It is the strength of the faith that matters.

I agree; prayer is most powerful! A victim mentality, on the other hand, will suck all the life out of a person and become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

G'day Richard, you forgot the 5th and most important principle of prayer. That is that we have a very real and intinmate relationship with a living God who wants to dialog with us, who wants to provide for us, and who will personally answer our prayers.

Some very good Biblical principles there all found within Pauls writings.

Good stuff. craig

I dare say, there are those among the Christian persuasion who would disagree with your take on non-Christians. I am not one of them. I know to the bottom of my heart that sincere prayer is answered, no matter one's religious persuasion. My Hindu friends tell me that their prayers are answered on a regular basis. I believe them. New Thought teaches that there is but One Power, One Presence, One Life, and that Life is our life now. How could such a One turn Its Back on folks who hold to different views from me? Not possible!

Interestingly enough, some of the most 'religous' types see themselves as victims, even when it comes to answered prayer. "I don't deserve the Good."

Get over it, believers! The Creator wants to give you all It has to offer. Your acceptance, or lack of it, makes all the difference. And it matters not what religious persuasion you claim.

You're right, of course. Without connection to the Living Presence, it all becomes just magic, sleight of hand. Fortunately, that Presence can be found everywhere, but especially within one's own heart. Oddly enough, that's the last place many people choose to look.
