I like to give people gifts when they least expect them. One day, a few years back, I decided to buy a bunch of flowers and a card for a friend of mine. It wasn't her birthday or anything, I don't even know what made me do it. Anyhow, when I got to her house, she told me she had been feeling very low, she said that the card and flowers made her feel like 'a million dollars'. That made my day too. I haven't been very good at receiving myself in the past, but nowadays I feel differently. I can't deny the other person the pleasure of giving. Thanks for a great article! Lynette. -- posted by silverlady » RichardSpeaks - Re: Welcome to the Suite! In response to message posted by silverlady:Your kind words honor me. I'm currently having a serious lupus flare & boy do i have difficulty receiving-its odd that I came accrooss this today when in the middle of the night I was awake & feeling miserable-I called my friend (who said to call any time) & I felt so bad because I woke her up-of course she gave me a lecture on how I always give ,give, give but have difficulty receiving-letting people give back to me.That people want to show me they care & love me so LET THEM! I would have replied earlier, but for some reason, signing on to Suite 101 poses some problems. Haven't figured them out quite yet, especially being the technophobe that I have been, up until recently (I've been affirming that I relate well to computers! It's working. . .a little). This may seem a bit strange to you. Even a disease is a gift in certain ways. It can, if we let it, wake us up to new approaches we may not have considered before. Not knowing your life journey, I can only speak for myself. This may be valuable to you; it may not be. If not, chuck it: I was diagnosed with cataracts in 1993. They were mild at the time and didn't threaten my vision. Within three years, one of them had 'ripened' to the point of needing surgery. I was going blind in one eye, and hazy in the other. At first, I wasn't too concerned. Then I began to panic. For one thing, eye surgery is expensive; I didn't have health insurance, being self-employed. I began to affirm for guidance. My inner voice suggested I begin the process of checking out clinics and prices. I did. The average cost was $2500 per eye. Some were as high as $5000. Case in point: Oregon Health Sciences University's Casey Eye Clinic. Best in the business (training university and all) but way out of my league. But I continued to trust that Inner Source that has always come through for me. In early 1997, a friend of mine had to have polyps removed from his sinuses. He told me that he had it done through the Veteran's Hospital, being a vet and all. I am a vet, too! I called the VA hospital, asked about the surgery, and they said I qualified to have the surgery, no cost. Good enough, you might think. It gets better! I discovered that, not only would I get my surgery at no cost, but the VA hospital used surgeons from, you guessed it, Oregon Health Sciences University! That's only one of a continuing series of "miracles" that bring themselves to me--and have for more than 50 years. The point? There is a place within you that is ready, willing, and able to provide you with whatever assistance you may need. Your job is to open to it. It's simple, but not necessarily easy. Long standing resistance to our own good plays a major part in blocking our best from manifesting. It's a matter of changing our minds, affirming that the universe is ready to help, any time, any place. Trust that. It works. You are loved! -- posted by RichardSpeaks « Previous 1 2 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
