That's great, Richard.

You bring us an opportunity to explore your ideas and understandings.

I think you've found a few places here where you can express your thoughts and understandings without fear of reprisal or being dismissed as a false teacher.

Again, thanks for your kind comments.

Yes, I do enjoy releasing the pent up spiritual energy in these writing endeavors, but let me tell you, I also truly enjoy the interaction on your part of this site.

Where's my post?
I left one here yesterday.
It was short, sweet and highly complementary.
Nothing deletable in it.
What'd you do with it?

» feistyfemale56 - Enjoyed your thoughts

Wanted to thank you for an article that reveals a search not unlike my own to help me understand my Higher Power and the Truth of my existence.

I think one of the most valid points you make in this article is that these three pearls of wisdom from the Bible are your particular pearls--which means they may or may not be the same for someone, or anyone, else.

I've often wondered why the Bible would be written in such a way as to mean thousands of different things to different people. After all, if the messages were meant to guide the reader, then shouldn't the message be the same for everyone who reads it? But now, at least in my mind, I think that the Bible is something different to each person who reads it...and needs it.

Thanks again, too, for opening up the avenue of discussion on a strongly emotional topic.

Sorry, Arthur, but I did not delete anything from this discussion. I had some trouble with doubling up on the article again and Sylvia had to do some deleting. Maybe it all got caught up together?? Post again, please.

Thanks.

". . .if the messages were meant to guide the reader, then shouldn't the message be the same for everyone who reads it?"

Impossible. You can read the dictionary with defintions right in front of you and get different opinions.

And yes, these three points are mine alone. There are millions who will say I have missed the point of the Bible by choosing these three rather that something else. But I have to be true to my own heart. And these three touch my heart. . .deeply.

Thanks for the comments.

Someone I know came up with the brilliant idea that perhaps God inspired the bible this particular way so that your true colors are revealed in how you use it.

I believe you are right on target. Since it works that way anyway, it might as well have been set up that way, right?

Now, if we could just get the Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, Desmond Tutu, the Mormon Church, and all the rest of Christendom to see it that way, we might actually bring a little peace to the world. It's a thought, anyway. . .
