New Orleans is one of the places I would love to visit, so it's a real treat to read about it.When I wrote about the St.Patricks day parade in Dublin, I was struck by how it resembled the pictures I have seen of the Mardi Gras -- very colorful and festive. I was surprised when my research of celebrations around the world lead me to Metairie, and the fun parade held there. As I understand it, they throw beads, carrots, cabbages, and the "occassional moonpie!" What I thought would be an easy job, is not all that easy and it is always nice to hear words of encouragement.
