Hi Cynthia,
I'm glad you enjoyed the article, even if it had a "bah, humbug" flavor! We do tend to live in the moment, don't we?!?! I was so surprised when my research revealed the truth of those Colonial times. Thank you for stopping by. Happy New Year!

» earlytimes - Xmas long ago

Hi Tina,
Many years ago when I was a history undergradd I researched the Louisiana Purchase legislation in the Congressional Record. I was shocked to find Congress meeting on December 25th! Christmas was not a legal holiday in the early 1800s.
I am saddened to hear that you are leaving both your topic and as ME. I wish you all the best in the new year and always. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Earl,
Isn't that amazing - I think most Americans would be surprised to know that!

I am retaining my membership so that I can visit. US History 1929 - 1945 is one of my favorite topics that I will now have more time to enjoy!

Thank you for your kind words. It has been a pleasure working with you, Earl. I wish you a very happy New Year! smile

Hi Roslind,
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the article. This is not the article I started out to write. I didn't know about this, either! Once I stumbled onto this in my research, the article was a lot of fun to write.
Happy New Year! smile
