That's not fun, unless it's a berry patch and you can pick enough for a pie. Glad things are getting better. Things are fine with me, except I don't seem to be accomplishing much. I'm blaming it on the heat. Can't be that I'm easily distracted lately... Thanks for all the nice posts over at my topic. I always enjoy a visit from you. Next time I hit a rough patch, I'm going to remember that I will just have to come out of it with enough berries for a pie -- I like that thinking!! I understand what you mean about the heat. It is so hard to stay focused when the heat and humidity soar. As beautiful as the tropics are, I would never survive there. I'd be in a constant stupor. I enjoy visiting your topic and your discussions - always so interesting and so much fun! Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Mugwump53 - Summer Fun Thanks for another great article, and this one full of ideas. We have a number of "pettting zoos" here in Florida very similar to Charmingfare Farms, but without some of the interesting and unusual animals yours has. We don't have the same summer doldrums problem, since school down south starts much earlier than up your way. Teachers go back in just a week, and the students the week after. So by mid-August, everyone is back in school. When I was a kid, the joke was that the three best reasons for teaching were June, July and August. Now we go back the first week of August. I feel cheated! {G} Anyway, thanks for a great look at these neat places. If I had the opportunity to feel the summer doldrums of August, they would certainly be the cure. -- posted by Mugwump53 » Dubh_Sidhe - Wonderful places These are wonderful sounding places to visit. I have never heard of a fisher cat, and I would dearly love to hear the tall tales. I would love to put my grandchildren in the car and take them to everything!-- posted by Dubh_Sidhe » Roostergrl - Re: Wonderful places In response to message posted by Dubh_Sidhe:Tina, I love the article! Though my sons are young adults now, I can still remember hearing, "Mom, I'm boooooorrrred!" I always tried to plan for it before June, but sometimes I still ran out of things to do. I have alot of friends with small kids I will email this article to so that they can save the remainder of the summer. LOL! P.S.: Thanks for stopping by and posting at my topic. ;) -- posted by Roostergrl » Red - Re: Re: terrific fun... In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Tina, This summer has been hotter than some but Ontario is known for heat and humidity. August is usually our hottest month, so hope this year is an exception. We've had high temps most of the summer but a few lovely summer days. -- posted by Red » Tina_Coruth - Re: Summer Fun In response to message posted by Mugwump53:Hi John, With some of the weather we've had lately, if you had been visiting, you might have thought you were still in Florida! I guess school is opening earlier in many parts of the country. When I was in school, we always went back the day after Labor Day. Now it is during the last week of August. Not nearly as early as Florida, but it still seems so strange to me. The kids go to school for a few days, then have a holiday! The first week in August -- I would feel cheated, too! Thank you for stopping by and posting. I hope you have a great school year! It's not very big, but I'd never want to tangle with any member of the weasel family!! It's an interesting critter. http://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/Fisher_f... It sure would be lovely if you and your grandchildren could hop in the car and visit NH's farms and fishways. It's too bad you'd have to be in for such a long drive -- I think you and the children would enjoy it! Thank goodness we have cyberland! I enjoyed your visit. My kids are grown, too. Now, with my grandchildren, it's time for another generation to sound the call -- "Im booooorrrred"! LOL I enjoy your topic. You are so creative and your latest article "China Walls" is wonderful! Thanks for stopping by and posting. Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Re: Re: terrific fun... In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, I didn't realize that Ontario is known of for its heat and humidity. It has been a strange summer all over, hasn't it?!?! We've had a lot of hot and humid spells, too. Like you, usually that weather hits by August. But we have had a lot of dry, cool spells in between. Sometimes, I feel guilty because when we are having those cool spells, it because of the lovely Canadian cold fronts decending upon us. Ontario must be just on the other side of that line that sweeps down, because I've noticed that you don't always get that relief that we do! As you said, let's hope that August is going to be an exception this year!!
