Ruggles MineRead the article this discussion is about
This archived discussion is "read only". « Previous 1 2 3 Next » » Sunbear - Mining Hi Tina,This sounds like a great place. I am something of a rockhound at times, and this seems like about the best of the do-it-yourself mining operations since it has so many different types of minerals! Seems amazing, as most of these mines only specialize in one or two types, such as garnets or beryl. You certainly related the story in an interesting manner; it was very enjoyable to read. Best wishes, -- posted by Sunbear » Tina_Coruth - Re: Mining In response to message posted by Sunbear:Hi Tom, Ruggles is a rockhound's paradise. I think you would enjoy it. I'm glad you liked the article -- I appreciate your kind comments. Thank you! Oddly, we've had rainy cool weather for the last few days. Unheard of in Texas in July! Hope you find some ways to stay cool. We have a lot of smaller tunnels out here in Northern Nevada from all the old mines. Some are very dangerous. Enjoyed the article. It's been gorgeous! But the four days before were horrible. We are in for one more awful hot muggy day tomorrow. Wish I could take a sleeping bag and go to Ruggles Mine!!! LOL I hope you are not in the part of Texas that is getting so much rain that it is flooding. I'm keeping a good thought and a prayer that you aren't and that the flooding subsides soon. Thank you for stopping by. I am enjoying the tea party at your place! Anyone else want to come to our tea party? Bring your favorite cup and enjoy the setting that Barb has set up! Here's where you will find it: -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: cool cave In response to message posted by earlytimes:Hi Earl, We came close to 100 degrees, but not quite! The humidity was awful. Ruggles is great. Actually, since it is atop a mountain, it's usually not too bad outside as well. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope your weather cools down soon! Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Fort_Spunky - Mining In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Hi Tina, Glad to hear you've had some relief in your weather; even if it is just a temporary respite, it helps. Hope the weathermen "miss it" on their forecast for tomorrow. It makes it hard to concentrate on anything when you're miserably hot, doesn't it? No, thankfully we are not having flooding in Dallas. But those poor people in areas around San Antonio are having a terrible time. I'm sure they appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts that are sent their way. I'm not sure which is worse--fire or flood, but the country is experiencing both right now. Wish we could divert some of the rain to put out the fires. Thanks for mentioning the tea party. Everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there. Linda -- posted by Fort_Spunky » AnneWatkins - Amethyst Hi Tina,Oh, I would love to visit the mine and pick up some pieces of amethyst! That's Bailey's birthstone and I'm sure Laura would love some chunks of real, unpolished amethyst mined by hand. I know I would! Fantastic write up! I enjoyed every word. And your daughter is a fine photographer. Please give her my compliments. Hope you're doing great, Tina! Anne -- posted by AnneWatkins » Tina_Coruth - Re: Mining In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Hi Linda, I'm glad you are not in the area of flooding. I thought I remembered that you are in Dallas, but I wasn't sure. I heard that the rain is stopping and the fires are under control now, I hope so. I'm one of those people who has a hard time concentrating on anything when the weather is hot and humid. We had two more days, but today is absolutely glorious!! I am really enjoying the tea party!! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Amethyst In response to message posted by AnneWatkins:Hi Anne, I love amethyst, too. It's a fitting stone for your precious Bailey Bug! Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the article. My daughter just walked into the room so I told her what you said. She broke out into a big smile and said, "Thank you!"
