You get so much information into your articles, Tina. And yet, they're so readable.

So now I know where Tommy Makem is living. A great character. It's good to know the family musical tradition is carrying on.

I really enjoyed this.

Cheers,

Martin

Wow! 54 Dovers in the U.S. Wonder why there are so many? Do you think they're all named after Dover in England?

Hi Tina, these snapshots are great. You pack so much historical information into them. New Hampshire really has such interesting history. And Linda asks a good question, was Dover named after Dover, England?

Thank you for another great article. I enjoyed it. Hope you are doing well, Tina! Renie

Hi Martin,

Isn't Tommy Makem a great character?!?! I listened to his music for years before I found out that he was living right here in New Hampshire! I especially enjoy the work he did when he teamed up with Liam Clancy.

Thank you for your visit and your kind words -- I appreciate it very much! smile

Hi Linda,

I wondered too why there are so many. Then it occurred to me -- how can there be 54? There can't be two Dovers in the same state. Or maybe territories were included in that count? I know that Dover, New Hampshire is named after Dover, England. I don't know about the others, but I bet a majority of them are also named after Dover, England.

I guess I have some research to do. I'm really curious where all these Dovers can be!!

Thanks for stopping by and posing the questions. If I find any answers, I'll post them.

Take care. smile

Hi Renie,
Yes, Dover NH was named after Dover England. As you can imagine, there are lots of towns and cities named after English towns and cities.

I'm glad you like the Snapshot series. I really appreciate your support! Thank you, my friend!!

I'm doing OK. Not too much snow, not too cold. Who could ask for more? LOL I hope old man winter is being good to you, too!

» jerrib - This is another place I'd love to visit.

It amazes me how far back your history goes. I love learning about the eastern half of the United States.

One of the things I'd like to see is President Lincoln's saddle. Somewhere in my family tree there's a saddle maker. Just caught my eye.

You have outdone yourself on references and links, Tina. Wow!

Another great job describing your state, as usual.
