In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, I really appreciate your support of my Snapshot series, my friend. Thank you!!! I hope you do get to Dover some day. The whole seacoast area is beautiful -- I think you would enjoy it. Talk to you soon! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Fort_Spunky - Re: Re: Dover In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Wow! 54 Dovers in the U.S. Wonder why there are so many? Do you think they're all named after Dover in England? Linda -- posted by Fort_Spunky » Renie_Burghardt - Dover Hi Tina, these snapshots are great. You pack so much historical information into them. New Hampshire really has such interesting history. And Linda asks a good question, was Dover named after Dover, England?Thank you for another great article. I enjoyed it. Hope you are doing well, Tina! Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Tina_Coruth - Re: Tommy Makem (& sons) In response to message posted by Laughman:Hi Martin, Isn't Tommy Makem a great character?!?! I listened to his music for years before I found out that he was living right here in New Hampshire! I especially enjoy the work he did when he teamed up with Liam Clancy. Thank you for your visit and your kind words -- I appreciate it very much! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Re: Re: Dover In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Hi Linda, I wondered too why there are so many. Then it occurred to me -- how can there be 54? There can't be two Dovers in the same state. Or maybe territories were included in that count? I know that Dover, New Hampshire is named after Dover, England. I don't know about the others, but I bet a majority of them are also named after Dover, England. I guess I have some research to do. I'm really curious where all these Dovers can be!! Thanks for stopping by and posing the questions. If I find any answers, I'll post them. Take care. -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Dover In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Hi Renie, Yes, Dover NH was named after Dover England. As you can imagine, there are lots of towns and cities named after English towns and cities. I'm glad you like the Snapshot series. I really appreciate your support! Thank you, my friend!! I'm doing OK. Not too much snow, not too cold. Who could ask for more? LOL I hope old man winter is being good to you, too! Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » jerrib - This is another place I'd love to visit. It amazes me how far back your history goes. I love learning about the eastern half of the United States. One of the things I'd like to see is President Lincoln's saddle. Somewhere in my family tree there's a saddle maker. Just caught my eye. You have outdone yourself on references and links, Tina. Wow! Another great job describing your state, as usual. -- posted by jerrib » Tina_Coruth - Re: This is another place I'd love to visit.
