Uh, uh, I've been out looking for spoons. I scoured the countryside until I found the perfect spoons for our desert. Oh, darn, now we need some pretty dishes. Linda, oh Linda, we need some help!!!!!! Actually, things just got very hectic. Thankfully, the pace has slowed down again. Thank you for stopping by. :-) -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Now you've done it! In response to message posted by jerrib:Hi Jerri, Yes, My mother found a use for the blueberries -- the same as my brothers and I!! LOL We never got sick from the water, another reason that makes me think that Anne and John may have hit on the answer -- tree roots may have caused the discoloration. Your very welcome for the link and I thank you for the link back! :-) Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: What a nice story down Memory Lane! In response to message posted by lana98:Hi Lana, Thank you for your kind words and support! It's a real boost. :-) Climbing trees to pick "longan" sounds like an activity my brothers and I would have enjoyed!! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Tina_Coruth - Re: Great Blueberries Story In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Hi Linda, My brothers and I went swimming many more times before we got too old to be hanging around together! LOL Actually, it was nice that at our ages we could go off together like that. These days, it would not be wise to let such young children go off without an adult. I'm glad you finally got to have some blueberries. They are definitely one of natures delights! Thank you for stopping by -- it's good to see you. :-) Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Fort_Spunky - Berry Patches Hi Tina,I got to thinking about berry patches and remembered that you had written about one last year. So I came back to re-read it. I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. Isn't it wonderful to remember childhood escapades? Can you believe it: We even have Texas-grown blueberries now? It's a real summertime treat! Linda -- posted by Fort_Spunky » Tina_Coruth - Re: Berry Patches In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Hi Linda, Thank you! What a nice compliment! I didn't know you could grow blueberries in Texas. That's wonderful! I love blueberries; they are my favorite berry and have been since I was a kid. Now it turns out that they are good for you, too. I was thrilled to find that out! Enjoy your blueberries and thanks for stopping by again! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Fort_Spunky - Re: Re: Berry Patches In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Don't ya just love it when something you've been doing all along turns out to be good for you! Hooray for blueberries! (And chocolate.) I think Texas blueberries are a new development. I haven't actually seen them growing, but have bought them in the store. They seem to be smaller than the ones grown in cooler climes, but maybe that was just that crop? I can't remember about the ones I got last year. I made a blueberry crisp this afternoon, and we're waiting to have it for desert with vanilla ice cream. Can't wait! These are big Oregon blueberries. Yum! Hope you're having a good weekend. I think we should turn the day they discovered chocolate was good for us into a national holiday! LOL LOL It seems that the wild blueberries that grow around here are smaller and more tart. (Of course, you have to race the birds to get any!) The cultivated blueberries seem to be getting bigger every year. They are huge and much sweeter! MMMMM - blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream. If I can get that transporter working, I'll be over! LOL Tina -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Red - blueberry season... Tina,I enjoyed reading this article again. It reminded me that blueberry season has arrived. Mom and I plan on taking the boys to pick some delicious blueberries on Wed if the weather is good. Right now (Sunday 6pm) we are under a tornado watch. Sooo, hope all the berries don't get ruined by a storm. Take care, Tina. Glad someone brought this article forward so I could read it again. -- posted by Red » Tina_Coruth - Re: blueberry season... In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, Thank you for stopping to read this one again. It was so nice of Linda to bring it back to the top! I hope you get to pick some blueberries!! I know the boys will love it and if they are anything like I was as a child, only about half the blueberries they pick will make it into the bucket!! LOL I didn't realize you got tornados!! We get them too, but very, very seldom. I hope there weren't any this time around. I will be in touch. -- posted by Tina_Coruth « Previous 1 2 3 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
