Hi Mary,
It is amazing that the punishment wasn't more severe. I think they are lucky for the timing. Although the Governor considered himself a Royal subject, by the time of the "Riot" other officials didn't see themselves that way. Fortunate for the rioters!

I had to laugh when you mentioned that the Summit of the Americas would no doubt be part of a history for the boys. It seems an awful lot of what had been current events to me, are now history to my children. Time marches on!!

I will tell Mariah that you said her pictures are fantastic. She is going to be delighted!

Thank you for your visit, Mary. Take care and I'll talk to you later...

In response to message posted by BettyPine:
Hi Betty,
I am surprised that there is not more of a public outcry, especially in California and parts of the Northwest. I think people in other states look at what is happening there and worry. I wouldn't be surprised to see public demonstrations if the problems are not solved. Our history from Colonial times right through the sixties and seventies certainly provide a primer for it!
Thank you for stopping by, Betty!

» BuckyRea - Excellent articles!

I really enjoyed reading about the Pine Tree Riot. This really is an important "forgotten corner" of American history. Thanks for writing this.

Oh, and for the record, Tina, you have absolutely the coolest sig-graphics of anyone on the Suite.

Thank you for your kind words, Bucky. I really appreciate it!

I wish I could take credit for Tweety, but I can't. A good friend of a good friend made it. I will pass on your compliment -- I'm sure it will be appreciated. I certainly enjoy having this signature! :-)

you tell us about little-known historical facts, Tina - and so skillful you are at it.

The pine tree plaque is really an interesting shape - and what an interesting tale.

Thanks, once again, for a winner.

Hi Mary Ellen,
I had a hunch you loved history, too! LOL Whether it's Pompeii or New Hampshire, it is so interesting to know what people did, how they lived, and what happened to them. Thank you for visiting and for your kind words -- it's always great to see you here.
