» Tina_Coruth - Hi Renie,

Hi Renie -- hiking in Switzerland must have been wonderful. I've only seen pictures, but it looks like a beautiful country. Speaking of pictures, their cog railway looks frightening to me. I think I'm turning into a wimp as I get older. Time was I would have thought it would be exciting to take a ride on a railway that looks as if it is barely hanging onto the side of a very steep mountain!

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words. :-)

» Tina_Coruth - Hi Virginia.

Hi Virginia. I do enjoy writing about New Hampshire. It's fun and educational for me.

I have enjoyed your articles, such as Appledore, that relate to New Hampshire. But then I always enjoy your articles. Do you have any Thompsons in your line? Maybe we will find out that we are related!

By the way, you're not the only scary bones around here, see my post to Renie! LOL

Thanks for stopping by. I'm always happy when you visit.

» Tina_Coruth - Thanks, Jerri.

Thanks, Jerri for stopping by and your kind words.

Yes, it is sad to see the list of people taken by the mountain. The good news is that there seem to be a lot more successful rescues lately. One reason for that appears to be modern technology -- the cell phone. Some people who have been injured were able to call for help immediately instead of having to wait until after the time they should have arrived back from the hike.

I can't imagine riding down a mountain on a snow shovel, either!

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there are a lot of Mount Washingtons. Maybe I'll do a search on that some time, it would be interesting to know. We also have a town called Washington -- I'll bet there are a lot more of those, too. But then we have the only Henniker on earth! LOL

Hi MaryEllen,

What a surprise to see a discussion is this article -- one of the older ones, but also one that I had a great time researching! Thank you!
