I caught the final few minutes of the Oprah Book Club today and Ms. Morrison was there talking about the book. Despite her protestations that "Paradise" isn't difficult reading, I would disagree. It's a tough one to get through. The relationships between Sethe and Beloved vs. Sethe and Denver fascinated me. In fact, I did a thesis in college on the matrilineal line in Beloved. Yes, I am including Beloved in my thesis, in fact Beloved and The Bluest Eye were originally the novels by Toni Morrison that I concentrated on.
