Welcome aboard, Robert!

A journalist covering serious contemporary fiction. Finally! I'll never go over to ... that 'other' site again!

Hello again, Robert. Intriguing article about an intriguing writer...I have either loved what she wrote or hated it over the years, could never get a good fix on what she might do next, either within the book or from book to book. See you later, Joanne Reid

Oh dear, I've been a recovered literary fiction addict for about 10 years... used to hole up with at least 10 of the latest and interesting (mostly women's) literary fiction... Mary Gordon and Joyce Carol Oates being among my favorite drugs of choice...

While in a binge, there would be no phone calls answered, no newspapers picked off the doorstep, no coherent conversation with hubby (now ex-), no garbage taken out, no real food eaten.. just cookies, cigarettes, and mineral water consumed for days and days and days...

I feel a slip coming on...

Rick Russell
"Man Crazy" hasn't been banned anywhere yet, and, given it's subject, that indicates that it is either not selling well, or not very good. Read it, and rather agree with the N.Y.TIMES. An infrequent event for me. For me Ms Oates is uneven at best, but she does have a lot of talent that may eventually come together.
