Mary Gordon and Joyce Carol Oates being among my favorite drugs of choice...While in a binge, there would be no phone calls answered, no newspapers picked off the doorstep, no coherent conversation with hubby (now ex-), no garbage taken out, no real food eaten.. just cookies, cigarettes, and mineral water consumed for days and days and days... Read it, and rather agree with the N.Y.TIMES. An infrequent event for me. For me Ms Oates is uneven at best, but she does have a lot of talent that may eventually come together. -- posted by RickR
