reading about all your Nevada happenings. Your Cookout event in Sparks sounds fun, but when I read all these I can't help but think how "warm" it is in your country. I like to stay in air conditioning when I go to Nevada in the summer!

Hi, Jerri!

Thanks for your post-and last year's Rib Cook-Off was a blast! I'm really looking forward to the event this year.

I traveled to Washington every summer as a kid to visit my grandparents in Lynden, and I remember how beautiful your state is at this time of year. About the heat here, though, I have found that where I live in Reno the temperature is usually about ten degrees cooler than where I lived previously--so now I'm basking in the cooler weather. LOL: I guess it's all relative!

Kathleen, as a fellow Reno, Nevadan I really enjoy reading your articles. Please dont forget the Great Truckee Meadows Rubber Duck Race (Aug 12th), The Reno Gay Pride Parade & Celebration (August 18th-19th), and The Great Basin Book Festival(Sept 29th) in your fun list of things to do. Keep up the good work of sharing our wonderful Silver State with others.

Guess it is, Kathleen. You learn to live with where you're at, right? I've thought about putting events on my site but decided to just do a link that lists them as there are so many!

You BBQ ribs contest does sound like fun. I also wanted to mention we were there a day before the hot balloon festival a few years ago and could see them from our room. It was great.
