» Leghorn - Help on linux compatible hardware components -PLEASE

First off, my name is Steve but Leghorn is my alias because of the work I do with raising chickens.

Down to business- I recently decided to network my computers. I have only experience with (yuck) microsoft products(sigh). Anyway, I was looking for a cost effective alternative to windows nt and came across linux. I just ordered Red Hat Linux 6.1 professional distribution.

How foolish I have been. From what I have read, Linux is far more the operating system I should have been learning and using.
My questions stem from the availability of support for hardware. I am going to build my own workstations and servers. What I need at this point in my learnings with Linux, is a shopping list of components with proven Linux compatability.. Anyone interested in putting together a list (build on paper their idea of an ideal server and/or workstation..component specific) would be greatly appreciated. Please post all comments and/or recommedations here or email me at steve@argontech.net
Thanks in advance for everyones help, and remember - education is the key to success!! -
.....Thanks again, Steve
