» TreasuresPlanted - Rotation Method

In answer to a question on a previous discussion thread, I taught someone how to do the rotation method of switching projects every week or so in order to keep her stitching interesting. Today I thought I would ask some of you what you thought about this rotation method.

Do you rotate your pieces to keep from growing bored of just one design/style?

If you rotate, how often do you switch and how many projects do you have in your rotation at one time?

Thanks for your input!

In response to message posted by TreasuresPlanted:

Dear Lori,
I am new to the Internet, and am having fun looking up all my favorite activities. Needlework is one, and I have just discovered your page at Suite 101. I noticed that you asked for feedback last June regarding rotating projects, but I couldn't find any responses (perhaps I am not looking in the right spot!). Anyway, rotating my projects is something I always do. At the moment I have one big project of a counted cross stitch Indian Chief, which I started about 15 years ago, and because it is so complex (not to mention hard on the eyes!) I only pick it up every couple of months. I have a carry bag sitting by my favorite chair, and this has two or three smaller pieces in it. At the moment, a supper cloth and a tray cloth. I should add that I love to buy old half-finished pieces from op-shops and garage sales, and I usually work on these before I start anything new. It is handy having a couple of small things ready in my carry bag complete with scissors, cottons, etc. to take with me when I know I will be waiting somewhere for a while (for instance at the doctor's or in hospital). I hope this is the kind of feedback you are looking for.
Kind regards,
Gina (Melbourne, Australia)

» feistyfemale56 - Rotating projects

What a great idea! It never occurred to me to have more than one project going at a time, but I can see the wonderful logic to this. For me, the idea of having one major project and perhaps two or three small projects seems like the ideal, but for now, will rotate just two major projects as I have two grandbabies on their way.

Thanks for the idea.
