Kansas State will have their Fiesta Bowl hopes plowed under by the under-rated Aggies IF they even make it past Nebraska. But the Bowl Championship Series will have a problem if Tennessee, UCLA and Ohio State all end the season undefeated.
Ohio State has had a wimpy schedule this year.
At the end of the season, if Tennessee is 12-0, after of season where over half the teams they beat had winning records, and 4 (maybe 5 if they face Arkansas a second time in the SEC title game) of their opponents were ranked, after defeating then-#14 Syracuse AT Syracuse, defeating Flordia (ranked #2 at
the time), after defeating then-#7 Georgia AT Georgia -- if the season ends that way and the Tennessee Volunteers don't get to play for a national title in the Fiesta Bowl, the Bowl Championship Series is in the toilet again...
And rightfully so...

» GKCruey - Nov. 14
I guess Nov. 14 will be the weekend that sorts things out. KSU faces Nebraska the same day the Volunteers gets to show up the Arkansas Razorbacks for the patsies they really are.Ohio State hasn't faced a winning team in a month - and won't until the 21st, when it plays Michigan. Michigan by then will be 6-4 after losses to Wisconsin and Penn State. If I were the coach at OSU, I'd be trying my best to arrange an end of season face off with Wisconsin. Otherwise, after the math is done, it could be UCLA and Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl while an undefeated OSU plays Big 12 champ Texas A&M.
This week, everyone has a freebie: KSU gets Baylor (3-6), Tennessee has UAB (2-6), UCLA has Oregon State (4-5) and OSU plays Michigan State (4-4). Watch out for a Temple-Va Tech style upset - most likely in the UCLA game...

» GKCruey - Now what...
Well, I guess the question, now that Ohio State has dropped the ball, is this:If Kansas State losses to Nebraska next week (or Texas A&M in the Big 12 title match) and UCLA manages to beat itself soon, who will plan undefeated Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl?
The winner of the Florida or Florida State game?
Maybe Texas A&M...

» Chuck - BCS Scenario
Well, lets look at it like this. Right now, the coaches poll has K-State and Tennessee as co-No. 1's. UCLA follows, then Florida and FSU.K-State still has Nebraska next week, while Tennessee plays Arkansas at home. Neither game is an easy one, at maybe -- just maybe, mind you -- both could finish the day with a loss.
UCLA has survived a couple of close ones, and they play a Washington team next weekend that could surprise them. A Bruin victory is by no means a sure thing.
FSU and Florida Still play each other, so at least one of them will notch another loss.
Which brings me to a possible dark horse for the BCS rankings -- Wisconsin. They are currently undefeated and ranked No. 6 in the coaches poll. If they win out (which granted means beating a tough Michigan team next week), they could well wind up playing for the National Championship.
Things will become a little clearer after this upcoming weekend. Stay tuned.

» GKCruey - update and reiteration
When this thread started, Tennessee was on the outside looking in... now it's Kansas State.I'd like to reiterate my orignal statement about KSU. I think that in the next 48 hours we will see their Fiesta Bowl hopes fall victim - not to the BCS points system but to the Aggies of Texas A&M. And as a result, the Aggies (10-2) will end up in the Series (hopefully in a rematch with Florida State) and KSU (11-1) will go to the Consolation Bowl - although they could become one of the at large teams and bump Ohio State or Florida out of the mix.
But if KSU, the Vols., and UCLA all win, the BSC is in the toilet.
