» jprufrock - Re: Re: Pardon our dust In response to message posted by Cracker49:The league is really powerless to stop teams from doing things like this. Franchises are autonomous enough that they can do pretty much whatever they think serves their interests. The LA Clippers have kept payroll low and profits high for years under Donald Sterling, and all David Stern can do is plead with Sterling to pay more attention to the quality of his product. Atlanta has paid players in the past, even the recent past, before giving up this year, so they're not the league's worst culprit. An interesting update from today: Hawks guard Dion Glover asked for and was given his release from the team. Glover is not a star by any means but is a decent and respected player. The reasons behind this decision are unclear, but will undoubtedly be clarified when Glover lands on a new team and starts yapping about his misspent years with the Hawks. Whatever Glover has to say, it's a dubious start to the recruiting season for Atlanta. -- posted by jprufrock
