Hi Serena, and it's always a pleasure to hear from you! Hope your jonquils/daffodils are blooming today, since I hear it has turned nice in Ohio, too. Thank you for coming by. I appreciate your support. Take care! Renie

Hi Reni,

I enjoy the opening of the jonquils every spring also. I do love early spring flowers the best of all.

Lovely article as usual.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Renie...my jonquils are blooming too. I love to smell there frangrance and occasionally bring a few indoors. I just hate picking them because they are so pretty standing outside in their own little group.
Have you ever took a ride through the country and spied Jonquils growing alone along the road somewhere? You can bet that at sometime a home stood on the property. My grandfather took me back into the valley one afternoon a long time ago. We came upon an area in the woods that was covered in Jonquils. It was there that he told me of a town...long gone...that once was a thriving community of mountain people. He showed me some of the old foundations that were still left and hidden among the undergrowth of the woods. I think that was the prettiest sight I've ever seen. All those Jonquils..still nodding their golden heads in the fresh air and sunshine, after all those many years.
Thanks for sharing your picture. They are so pretty. I enjoyed the history of the Jonquil's brought to this country also. I always wondered just where they came from...Hugs...

Hey Bertha, how are you? That sweet little grandson keeping you happy and occupied?

Yes, jonquils will go on forever, and it's quite a sight, to see whole colonies of them, where once, people used to live. All I have to do is go up in the woods, where the shell of that old house is. There are thousands of jonquils up there! Oh, the thriving community that once was would sure make a good story. Maybe you have even written one?

Thanks so much for coming by. I hope all is going well in your neck of the mountain. Take care, and enjoy our beautiful spring. Next, the wild plum will be blooming, and then the redbud, and then the dogwoods...oh, we have so much beauty to look forward to!

Hi Renie,

I had never heard of Jonquils before. A very informative article. With spring on the way(It's snowing like crazy outside as I write this.) I have been thinking about planting something in the window box with my Coleus, but not something too tall. How tall do Daffodils get?

Hi Earl, well, you've heard of daffodils, right? Jonquils are daffodils, very early daffodils. They don't get all that tall, but since they're spring bloomers, the bulbs should probably be planted in the fall. It's snowing like crazy there? Wow, you have my symphaty! smile Thanks so much for coming by, Earl. Renie
