On Joy and JonquilsRead the article this discussion is about
This archived discussion is "read only". » Red - jonquils vs. daffodils... Renie,Silvan is right. It will be at least another month before we see daffodils or jonquils here in Ontario. Our spring doesn't arrive as soon as yours, though daffodils, tulips, iris and other plants are poking their sprouts through the dirt in my flower garden. We haven't had much of a winter, but what a breath of spring this article was for me today. It was snowing here this morning and the wind is blustery and its cold. The photo is beautiful. Now I know the difference between a daffodil and a jonquil. Thanks for sharing these beauties with us. I hope you will consider submitting this article to the Nature's Treasures Event. It would be a welcome addition. Take care, my friend. I hope all is well in your Ozarks. -- posted by Red » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Joy In response to message posted by faithfulone:Thank you for coming by, Susan. In response to message posted by Red:Mary, well, at least they're coming out of the ground, and you know spring is on the way! Yes, we usually get an early spring, but you wouldn't know it today. 28 for a high, but sunny, and going down to 15 F tonight. But then by Monday things start warming up again. Thank goodness. This cold is bone-chilling! I'll be submitting several to your Nature's Treasures Event soon. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Thank you for the visit and always kind comments. Take care, too! -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Tina_Coruth - Beautiful! Hi Renie,What a beautiful and joyful article! I love the photo and Wordsworth's poem, too. It makes me long to hear those peepers singing. Soon enough. Until then, I will just have to revisit this article! Thank you for this wonderful taste of spring! Take care, my friend. -- posted by Tina_Coruth

And yes, they are the color of sunshine, and their aroma is heavenly! Thanks so much for coming by. -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » AnneWatkins - Re: Re: Jonquils In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:When you were a kid, did you ever put them in a vase of colored water? That's what a lot of kids did at the little country school I attended. You put a few drops of food coloring in the water, red or blue or whatever, and the flowers change colors. Fun and interesting. Hope you're well, Renie! It's coooold here today. Anne -- posted by AnneWatkins Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
