Hi Bertha, wow, what interesting comments. That mummy of the Indian woman and her baby must have been a fascinating discovery. But, then, caves are fascinating places. I don't think I'd go in too far, myself, but I might have, when I was young and spry! smile Yep, it has turned mighty frigid, suddenly. But spring is forecast to be back by the weekend. I'm ready and anxious for it to arrive. smile Thanks for stopping by. I hope all is well with you and yours, and that newgrandbabyy is enjoying all the attention he gets from his grandma! Take care...

Yes, the cave fish are beautiful little creatures, and very adept at getting around without sight. I always learn so much from your articles, too, Kendahl! smile Thanks for coming by. All is well here, although very cold at the moment. Take care!

Reni!
Thank you for giving me a "cave tour"! I would never be brave enough to go into a cave (my husband spalunks (sp?). However, you taught me so much about the inner cave world in just one article! Thank you!

Hi Peggy, well, if it went up for a vote here about going caving, I think the "not me's" would win! Hehe. But caves are interesting, and a part of nature, even if not for everyone. Thanks so much for coming by. I hope you're doing well, Peggy! Take care. Renie

» silvan - caves

One of the most interesting and beautiful places I've ever visited is Loray Caverns in Virginia.

Most of Ontario is on the Canadian Shield, which is some of the oldest granite bedrock in the world, so there aren't any caves. But here in the South end of the province we have a few small ones. I've explored some along the Niagara Escarpment, which is a limestone formation. In an article last fall I included several photos of the interesting geological features of this area. One shows my daughter outside the mouth of a small sea cave on Georgian Bay. I hope you'll check this article, Renie...the scenery is breathtaking!

» AnneWatkins - Hi, Renie :)

Saw this in the Summer event and had to read it again. It's just as great the second time around!

Remember the story I wrote for your nature contest called "The Cave?" Well, I dug it out, did a big re-write and sent it off to an anthology market. Guess what? It's to be published in a book later this year. So, thank you for inspiring me to do something with that childhood memory. smile

Hopefully I'll get a new article up at Companion Birds soon!! I've been so ill I can barely string two words together. Sheesh. But I'm sure I'll be good as new soon. And I have some new pictures of Bailey Bug (he's quite a BIG bug now, hehe!!) I need to share with everybody! hehe.

Hope you're great, Renie, and having a wonderful summer. Big hugs to you!

Love,
Anne

Hi Anne! Well, thank you for reading the caves article again. Appreciate it much. I do remember your story. It was wonderful, and I'm glad you sold it. Maybe I'll be reading it? I look forward to seeing a big Bailey Bug, soon! smile
I hope you'll be feeling better, and as good as new soon, too. I've had a great summer, so far, and if it weren't for the heat, it would be even greater. smile Hehe. Take care, my friend. Talk to you soon. Renie
