Hi Sally, well, our American possums like the pears too, but there is enough pears on my tree to feed an army of them, and then some! Hehe. So nice to hear from you, Sally! Renie

Hi Virginia, yes, you are right, there is something about trees that makes one feel secure. And what a nice memory of your own pear tree! I think you will enjoy the chutney, if you try it. Glad you came by, Virginia. Have a wonderful weekend, too. Renie

» ruby - Juicy!

Hey Renie, you know pears are my favorite lifesavers during backpacking climbs back in the Philippines. The fruits are so sweet and juicy and just right for that sugar and fluid boost we so badly need when climbing those nasty, hot and humid mountains! Love your very infomative article. Wish we had a pear tree nearby! smile

Hey Ruby! Good to see you here. You are right, of course, pears would be a perfect fluid and sugar boost. Next time I go hiking, I will take a couple of pears along. Thanks for coming by, Cyber Sis. Hope you and Mike are doing great! Renie

» SandyMcC - Mmmmmmm! :)

Hi Renie,

I LOVE pears! I love them so much that I slice, dice and dry them to put in my herbal teas for a fresh taste, year-round! smile Not to mention those nutritious little tidbits that get through the tea-bell, all spiced up from the cinnamon and cloves! Mmmm, this is making me hungry. smile

Your articles about your property are so dream-like to me -- I know I've said it before, but I'd really like to come visit! smile It sounds wonderful there!

Thanks for another great read!

Hi Sandy, hmm, never heard of putting dry pears into tea. What a neat idea! Since I'm planning on drying some of the pears this year, I will try that.

Thanks for visiting, Sandy. I'm sure living in Alaska is wonderful, too! I hope you're doing well. Take care. Renie

» Linda_Wilson - Pears - yum!

Great article, Renie. Thanks for offering it to the Autumn Harvest Fesatival. It's pear-fect!

I have got to try your pear nut bread. I haven't tried many pear recipes, but last year I did try baked pears using a baked apple recipe. It was delicious.

Unfortunately -- thanks to an invasion of army worms this Spring -- you can count on two hands my harvest. But these survivors are the biggest I can remember seeing. At least I won't be running around frantically trying to harvest all I can. Whew! I've got to scale back my harvest time ambitions!

Hi Linda, you know, my pear harvest can also be counted on two hands this year, and I'm missing all those delicious pears I usually get. But yes, basically pears can substitute for apples in many recipes. Even pear pie is delicious! Hope the Autumn Harvest Festival is a huge success, Linda. smile
