The frog never made it to the city, because the little thing got loose in the suitcase and was jumping around, trying to get out. We heard this noise, and investigated, and upon opening the suitcase, out jumped this tiny frog! Well, then my granddaughter told us she was trying to take it home with her. We explained things to her, and she carried the tiny hoppie back to the pond, with tears in her eyes. She really wanted to take it home. Of course she was very young then. She laughs about it now. Thanks so much for coming by, Kendahl. Appreciate it. Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Red - Re: Re: Frogs and toads... In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Renie, I have good news. Last night I showed Dwight a photo that another CE had sent me from BC. It was a picture of a flowering shrub outside of her window. It was beautiful. He told me that the Iris was starting to grow in the front flowerbed. I put on the outside light and went to check. I must confess, I had a pleasant surprise. The leaves are about 2 inches tall and so green. Maybe we are going to have an early spring as well. Hope they don't get frosted. Glad you are having such a great week. Happy Valentine's Day. -- posted by Red » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Re: Re: Frogs and toads... In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, that's wonderful! It is so nice to see flowers eager to grow and and bloom, isn't it? Once they're up, a little frost won't hurt them. My forsythia is budding, too, and should burst into bloom in a couple of weeks. And we're getting lots of rain now. Thanks for stopping by. Always enjoy your company. Happy Valentines Day to you as well, Mary! Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Great! I have a thing for these cute little creatures and have a garden rubber frog collection all sizes, cheaper the better, (yup I went for the one that croaks too, HA!) Thanx for the info, Renie, I saw a terrifying documentary about certain frogs becoming extinct so I'm glad you're doing what you can for the toads and frogs. We used to have what we called hoppy toads, little 1" ones up north and polliwogs oh what fun to watch! I need a water garden with critters, my little one has dragon flies which I too adore, can't wait til they come back, you wrote about them too. I am rambling but here's a little friend who is here for Mardi Gras- a street performer- you may have seen him on the web before. <img src="http://members.aol.com/lilydelmar/frogda..."> wanna dance, Renie? great article, as usual my friend! -- posted by RosemaryBasil » Renie_Burghardt - Re: All my princes turned into frogs In response to message posted by RosemaryBasil:Well, Rosemary, your little friend has sure cheered me up. I wonder where your granddaughter got the idea for smuggling that frog? Maybe from Peachie the bunny or Hansel the rooster.Earl at Earlytimes -- posted by earlytimes » Red - Re: Re: Re: Re: Frogs and toads... In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Renie, The boys gave me a little pot of crocus for Valentine's Day. I have been taking good care of it inside as it is too cold to put them out yet. It was minus 20 with the windchill yesterday. When I received them, there were not blooms and Michelle didn't know what color they were. The other night, a lovely purple bloom burst out on one of them. Tonight there are 4 purple blooms. I told the boys and they were ecstatic. I can hardly wait to put them in my garden. Next spring they will be the first flowers that push their heads through the snow. Take care. Just thought I would bring you up to date. -- posted by Red » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Toads, Frogs, and animal smuggling In response to message posted by earlytimes:Hehehe, Earl, never thought of it before, but you are right. She must have inherited the smugglers gene. Thanks for visiting. Hope you're doing well.
