The Hops and Jumps of it: Toads and FrogsRead the article this discussion is about

For about two months during the early summer there was a frog hanging out somewhere in my front yard. You may never in your life have heard one with such a masculine voice with so tremendous an amplitude as this guy. He'd start croaking and I'd start looking for him. When I got near the corner of the yard he's shut up. He had to be big because he sounded so big. I only wanted to find and visit with him. I became very sneaky about locating that frog and finally I found him in a small hole in the corner post of the yard fence. He was about one inch long! My first thought was: If I could design a loudspeaker that small with his amplitude I'd make a million dollars. My wife and five kids peeked into the hole and admired the little guy off and on for another week. He left for other parts and we never saw him again. Lynford D. Hmm, although I love both frogs and toads, I don't know if I'd actually want to kiss one even if he promised he wouldn't turn into a prince. And at my age, I wouldn't want a prince. He'd be too much trouble to get used to! Thanks for visiting. I'll be sure to call for those sordid details. Hope you're enjoying this gorgeous day we're having. Later...

I just always thought of them as those creatures I couldn't stand to touch, but I'm glad you wrote this. It helped me understand, that beyond their warty exterior, they are kind creatures. Thanks, and good job. I guess you never made that million though, or did you? Oregon County, eh? You were pretty near here in 1972. Of course, I was still in Ohio then. Lynford, always fun to read your posts. Thanks a bunch. Appreciate your visit. Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Hi, Renie In response to message posted by shannon415:Hi Shannon!
