In response to message posted by Red:It's mild here again, and even the peepers have been peeping for a couple of nights. But, another cold spell is trotting in by tomorrow. Strange winter. But maybe I said that last year, too. Hehe. Happy to see you here, as always. Enjoy the lovely crocuses, my friend.

» ahunter - Guinea Pig Chosen!
In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:This Saturday, I'll have a guinea pig! My best friend and I looked at ones over the past couple weeks. Early this week, I finally decided on a dark, multi-colored, tousled-hair female guinea pig. She turns four-weeks-old this Friday and so I can pick her up this weekend. Her cage is half-prepared and I'm already a nervous new "mom"!
Actually, there's a whole story I could tell about my decision to get a pet. For example, until a week ago, I lived in an apartment that did NOT allow pets. I suspect my next friendship article will be about this story....

In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Fruity continues to adjust to her new life with me. She likes to race in-and-out of her cage, explore my bedroom, eat food from my hand, run over my feet, and has even sniffed my nose as well as attempted to chew my hair! She seems to prefer to be the one who initiates contact. She's fit nicely into my life.
Note, my article this month is about "pets as companions". I included a photo of Fruity in my article.

Hi Renie, I'm just catching up on my reading. I missed so many of your articles while I've been off the puter. I love this one about frogs and toads. So does, Mandy. I printed it out for her. It's great to be back on, reading your wonderful articles. Take care. I'll be back.Kim
PS. I love that tail-wagging puppy in your signature! He is adorable.

» salter19 - Frogs in my window well
I have 3 window wells where I keep flowers. This is the first year I have had frogs for visitors. Thinking they may have fallen in by mistake, I put up a plank and removed the well cover, but they did not leave. In one window well I lifted out 3 frogs and put them in the grass outside. Within 2 hours one of them came back to a well where there had been none before. I now count seven frogs distributed in 3 window wells. I enjoy having them visit and watch me through the window but what will happen to them when the cold weather returns to Illinois?-- posted by salter19
