» KimHan - Hey Renie,

my uncle actually remembers you. He says you were a cute little blond that used to take a little boy named Joey for a walk all the time. He said he and my aunt, who is now deceased, used to talk to you sometimes. Isn't that wild? Well, I think it is. See you later.

» Renie_Burghardt - Gee, Kim,

that was about a hundred years ago. How nice that he still remembers me. Tell him "Hi" from me. And little Joey is 40 now! Thanks for bringing back a nice memory, Kim. I'm gonna go now and have a cup of Sassafras tea.

» silvan - The beautiful sassafras

Thank you for writing about one of my favourite trees. It is relatively unfamiliar here in Ontario. I didn't get to know the sassafras until my summer working in Carolinian woodland when I was 21 or 22.

Another feature I love about the sassafras (besides its spicy scent) is the way its leaves glow when backlit by sunlight. They press nicely, too, but I've lost all the ones I collected 15 years ago.

» Renie_Burghardt - Hi Sylvan!

I agree with you about Sassafras being beautiful. Here, it's pretty well taken for granted, since it grows everywhere. But I like it very much, and it really is a unique speciment.

Thanks so much for dropping by. Great to see you, and I hope you visit again, soon, Sylvan!

» elzaree - sassafras tea

Help! Does anyone know where I can buy Sassafras tea.
My mom remembers drinking it as a child when she lived in Kentucky in the Appalachians.
I still have to check the health food stores.

In response to message posted by elzaree:

Hi, sassafras tea is very available online. Here is an 800 number you can call to order some. They have great loose leaf tea. Your mom would like that. Anyway, here is the number:

1-800-803-7774

And by the way, you can find lots of other places online to buy it. Just type "sassafras tea" into your search engine, and you'll get pages and pages of placesc. Health Food Stores should have them, too. I have even seen it in supermarkets where they sell teas. Have fun!
