» Renie_Burghardt - Hi Raphael!

Hmm, well the Ozarks are a pretty nifty place, but jobs are pretty scarce, unfortunately, since this area is still mostly forests and rocky hills. But, there are lots of ranches, and they might need hired hands. You like animals? Well, of course you do. You have a new baby bunny! What color is it?

Sometimes, laughing at ones self can be good medicine, and even crying can be a great release, can't it?

So glad you came by here, Raphael. Hope you come again, soon!

» RosemaryBasil - Hi Renie!

What a breath of fresh AIR your natural artcle is after a month of Mardi Gras! I love all the animated gifs too! I can hear your bluebird singing! oops must be one too many Hurricanes and I don't mean the weather phenomena, hehe
I also love folklore and old sayings so it was a treat reading those, and I am a weather NUT.
Well I think most gardeners have to be but where I live it has become a necessity whether watching the dramatic rainfalls, hailstorms or the intense glaring summer sun for dangerous heat indices, the freeze watches and of course HURRICANE tracking! LOL
I am a sunset and moon gazer addict and my photos of sunsets over the antebellum buildings and being out every full moon on the balcony are big hobbies....
So you see this article trancends country to city life, we all have weather!! smile
Thank you so much for your gifted perceptions and palatable writing, Renie!

» Renie_Burghardt - Hi Rosemary!

Hehe, I've never tried those kind of Hurricane's, and as for the kind that blow in, it's more likely to be a Tornado in my neck of the woods!

Ture, we all have weather, and as far as that goes, we all have Nature, too. And I love sunsets and moon and star gazing, myself. You should see the full moon over the pond! It's a lovely vision that I enjoy every month.

I enjoyed your comments as well, Rosemary. So glad you came by now that things have quieted down on da Balcony. Please come back again, soon!

» RaphaelBlue - My precious baby

Funny you should ask about her color because the color is actually a pretty big deal. My bunny, a tiny lop-eared girl named Sheldon, is a wonderful color which I've never seen before in a rabbit, the color of light and sweet coffee... very light and very sweet. The reason I chose to look at her over the others was because of her color and then when my boyfriend held her up to me, that little face! I just fell in love. She's this soft, soft, ever so soft little fluff of fur and the woman at the pet store said SHE had chosen her from the litter because of... her color. My mother called it "champagne," which is also pretty descriptive. It's a very pure color, almost white, with a sheen of pale, pale taupe. Right now she's lying on her belly with her two tiny paws in front of her and her two little back legs stretched out behind her in what my friend Curtis calls the Superman position.

» Renie_Burghardt - Awww,

Sheldon sounds adorable, Raphael. Bunny's are sweet, and have distinct personalities, don't they? And the color is important. I love lop eared bunnies! Take a picture of her and show it. That would be fun. Enjoy your little Sheldon!

» Red - Renie, how ...

enlightening. I know that Grandpa and Dad went by a lot of these weather signs. A "Red sky in the morning is a sailor's warning. A Red sky at night is a sailor's delight," have proven themselves to me over the years.

I read this article when it first came out and my computer froze just as I was posting it. I guess it never was posted and I am sorry I am so late posting this.

Weather patterns are indeed a thing that can not always be predicted. The overturned leaves are usually an indicator that rain is on the way and when I see them, I expect a storm. There has been a time or two it didn't come but two in many years tells me that leaves know when they are going to get a drink. hehe.

I remember when Hurricane Hazel ripped through here. I was about 6 years-old and we were sent home from school. Grandma sent us out to put a rain barrel under the eaves so she would have wash water. LOL That storm must have filled that rain barrel fifty times. In the meantime, the wind was whipping and I though for sure I would be blown away.

This is an interesting article, well researched and I commend you on it. Thanks for informing me about weather and folklore. I enjoyed it immensely. Take care and we'll talk soon.

» Ron46 - Thoughts

Hi,
You need to change your name to the amazing Renie. Such a smart woman you are. This was funny and gave a lot of information also. It was a bit different than your other writings but I am going to be passing it on to a few friends. Thanks for all of the history on weather sayings. Really interesting.
