Not magic at all it's a deep trust through communication with your horse. Once you have the trust of your horse through comunicating with it in its own body language you develop the herd of two you and your horse. You being the alpha and your horse the beta . If you have a horse that walks away when you approach him try meeting him half way , you take a step the horse takes a step when you are near enough to give a treat give a treat for a great step in the right direction toward you. The horse will remember that if he comes to you he gets rewarded for his effort.
The same with the horse that is hard to halter ,once the horse will come to you for a treat 100 times then take out the halter with you when he comes to you show him the treat let him smell it but don't give it to tell him to wait as you put the halter on even if you only get it half way on before he turns away let him go just stand there and get the treat out again and show him the treat when he comes over let him smell it again and try the halter again keep letting him smell the treat. put the halter on and give him the treat plus another one for a job well done. Take the halter off give another treat and walk away. Repeat this for 3-4 days and he will put the halter on him self after that. It just takes some love and time. Its not magic it is trust you are giving him the chance to walk away if he wants or stand and get a treat.
I do a lot of what i call playing around like this with my horse Poco and he knows that if he follows me or he stands out in the pasture even if i have to take off a shoe out in the pasture with out a halter on he will stand there because he knows he will be rewarded for a job well done.
Poco comes when i whistle he will even nicker at me . If i can't see him and i whistle he will answer me to let me know he heard me and that he is coming. He has even tought our little Mustang thunder to come when i whistle. Poco thought Thunder at the age of 3 1/2 months old to come to me when i call. Now Thunder will come a running when i call them.
Poco has even came to me and left 11 other horse around a 10 acre pond and he comes a running and whinnying to let me know he is on his way so i don't leave with out seeing him.
How did i do this I met him half way and he got a treat for the first Month i had him. Poco was abused before i got him and he didn't trust the human race much at all. It took me a good month with him to come to me and leave the other horses now he doesn't even think of staying with the other horses he leaves them and comes when i call him.
