eating baby powder
This archived discussion is "read only". « Previous 1 2 Next » » biogardener - Corn starch? Yes, it is true that some mothers use corn starch instead of baby powder, but I do not know of any commercial baby powder which consists of corn starch. Originally, baby powder was called "talcum" or "talcum powder" because talcum was the main ingredient. Whether it still is, I do not know. I do not use any kind of commercial powder.Talcum is derived from clay. It is what makes clay feel smooth and soapy. If you crave talcum, you would probably do better to eat clean potter's clay than baby powder which has other ingredients which could harm you. I am not advising you to eat clay. I am just trying to help you figure out what you should be eating. I am not convinced by the iron deficiency theory. Different clays contain varying amounts of iron. The iron in the clay is of a form which does not help your body anyway. I am more inclined to believe that it is some micronutrient which your body craves. Tell me, are there certain foods which you crave? If you do, maybe we could try to figure out if that food contains an ingredient which is also found in the powder. -- posted by biogardener » biogardener - to djenny Djenny, there must be something in the baby powder which your body is needs. Try to find out what it is so you can obtain it from a safer source, because the baby powder may contain ingredients which are harmful. Maybe the company which manufactures the powder would help you by giving you a list of ingredients, so you and your doctor can examine it to see what it might be that your body is deficient in. It's worth a try. Write to them and tell you what your problem is.-- posted by biogardener » biogardener - to grace37 Try to find out from the manufacturer what the ingredients of the baby powder are. Then try to figure out which of those ingredients your body might be craving. Then try to get that ingredient by itself. That way, you won't be ingesting the ingredients in the powder which might be bad for you.-- posted by biogardener » hiswife43 - to grace37 In response to to grace37 posted by biogardener:One of the ingriedients in powder is zee mays which is also cornstarch. Maybe you are anemic and need more iron in your diet. I would check with my doctor if I were you and let him perform all of the necessary blood tests needed to be sure. I was addicted to cornstarch for over 30 years and finally was able to stop because of taking vitamins and iron prescribed by my doctmy doctor prescribed the right vitamins and iron supplements for me from taking a blood test. Good Luck. -- posted by hiswife43 » grace37 - to grace37 I have had blood work done and I can't seem to stop eating baby powder. I can only eat the Johnoson and Johnsons babyb powder with Aloe vera and cornstarcth. I see that when I'm nervous or am going through something I sense to find comfort in eating the powder. I know and I want to stop cold for good. Help!-- posted by grace37 » biogardener - to Grace37 Grace, I am considering the possibility that the baby powder has become a comfort food to you. If that is so, you should be able to replace it with something which feels like it, e.g. just the starch. You could try it.-- posted by biogardener » Kamaya - to Grace37 In response to to Grace37 posted by biogardener:hey i know what you mean im 17 yrs old and is also addicted to baby powder i eat it all day long i wish i could tell my mother but i know she wouldnt understand at all. -- posted by Kamaya » Taylerdane2 - I used to eat baby powder the same kind In response to I have posted by Djenny04:but in the powder u are craving the corn starch and now I can eat a whole box of starch in 3 days but I can't help it I am only 16 and just had blood work done and I am severly anemic -- posted by Taylerdane2 « Previous 1 2 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
