» AnneWatkins - Very interesting Interesting article, Traute, with some points that I hadn't thought of. As to pork, I used to love it and ate it whenever I had the chance. However, in recent years, I've developed problems with it. I have to avoid ham, pork chops, pork roast, almost any pork dish you can think of. For some reason, it causes me to suffer severe stomach distress that goes beyond simple discomfort. My symptoms are similar to what one would experience with food poisoning. In fact, it's made me so sick that now it even bothers me to look at pork in the meat department of the grocery store! hehe. Thanks for the well-thought out article. I enjoyed it. Hope you're well! Anne -- posted by AnneWatkins » biogardener - allergies are developed Anne, that is a good example of allergies developing from eating a certain food regularly. I once heard a Regina, SK, physician talk about the rotation diet on which he puts his patients. They are not allowed to eat any food more often than once in 4 days. That way, they keep from developing an allergy to it.That is the kind of topic which I will write about on my Allergy Lifeline site. That site serves everyone, not just people with allergies. -- posted by biogardener » biogardener - Great pizza I, too, love pizza, but I don't mix cheese with meat. I don't even have tomato sauce on mine, because I have an extreme salicilate sensitivity, and that is a real problem in tomato paste. There are so many different types of pizza now with so many different sauces that I have no problem finding one which I like. At home, I will use any kind of salad dressing instead of the tomato sauce, and pile on different ingredients for everyone, just not meat. I hate the taste of pepperoni anyway, and for sure it is made from pork.BTW, I must write an article on how to have a healthy make-your-own-pizza party. -- posted by biogardener » BettyPine - You must be very healthy! I don't eat pork. After a friend of mine developed a worm in her brain from eating undercooked pork, she had to have brain surgery to remove the very long, slender worm. If it had migrated to her heart instead of her brain she probably would have died. Her Dr. told her that pork is a meat that is tightly packed full of little worms and must be cooked very well. Yuck! I don't know if that's true, but the worm in her brain is..so no pork for me.-- posted by BettyPine » biogardener - taste I don't even like the taste of pork. The meat would have to be highly smoked to disguise the taste before I could even stand it in my mouth. I much prefer smoked fish, turkey, or chicken, though. The aversion to the taste, of course, comes from my brain telling me that the meat is going to make me sick.-- posted by biogardener
